Vendlink Drivers, Warehousemen, Office Workers Join Local 805; Second Organizing Victory for Local in 2005

Dec 15 - In another landslide organizing victory, Vendlink/Canteen Services voted 32 to 7 to join Teamsters Local 805, bringing our organizing total for the year to over 100 new members. Our newest members are very enthusiastic about negotiating their first written contract, and

especially on improving wages, healthcare and retirement benefits. Local 805 was alerted to the

Vendlink employees’ interest in joining a union by an ex-805 member. The company is located near HLA in Farmingdale, Long Island and services vending machines in the greater New York area. We look forward to seeing them at the next General Meeting!

Local 805 Volunteer Organizers Seek to Level the Playing Field

Volunteer Organizers
Members of the Volunteer Organizing Committee (from l to r): Marcus Davis (HLA), Business Agent Enrique Martinez, Business Agent Joe Garcia, Michael Walsh (HLA), Local 805 Treasurer Ralph Vomaro

Local 805 volunteer organizers are conducting an organizing drive on Stan Lou Tobacco, a distribution warehouse in Yonkers. Most cigarette and candy distribution warehouses in the NY area are already members of Teamsters Local 805. Organizing the non-union businesses in the same industry ensures a level playing field in that industry and a strong union voice.

If you are interested in helping out with this organizing drive, call (718) 609-6401.
